FAQ

What's the best diet?

Your lifestyle and individual needs will determine the best diet for your body. You should also consider how much energy your exercise consumes, whether you like low-calorie or high-calorie foods, and what you enjoy in terms of eating fruits and veggies.

Intermittent Fasting is an alternative to traditional fasting if you are looking to lose weight. Intermittent Fasting means that you eat only specific meals throughout your day and not three large meals. This approach may prove to be more beneficial than traditional diets that have daily calorie counts.

Intermittent fasting has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation and lower the risk of developing diabetes. Some research also suggests that intermittent fasting might promote fat loss, and improve overall body composition.

Is it possible to have a weak immune system due to being cold?

It is said that there are 2 types of people: those who love winter (and those who hate it). You may wonder why you feel so bad when it's cold, regardless of whether you love it or hate it.

The fact is that our bodies are designed for warmth and function best. In fact, we evolved to thrive in hot climates because that's where most of our food sources are located.

Now, however, we live in a completely different environment to how our ancestors lived. We spend much more time indoors, often exposed to extreme temperatures (cold and heat), and we eat foods that are processed rather than fresh.

Our bodies aren’t accustomed to such extremes. So, when we do venture outside, we often feel exhausted, sluggish, or even sick.

There are ways to combat these effects though. Keep your body hydrated. You can help flush toxins out of your body by drinking plenty of water.

You must also ensure that you are eating healthy foods. Healthy food will help your body maintain its optimal temperature. This is especially true for people who spend long hours indoors.

Finally, consider taking a few minutes each morning to meditate. Meditation can help you relax your mind, body and soul. This makes it easier to manage stress and illnesses.

Is being cold good for your immune system.

Cold can make you less immune to infection because your body makes fewer white blood cells, which are essential for fighting infections. However, being cold also makes you feel better because your body releases endorphins into your brain which reduce pain.

What is the difference between fat and sugar?

Fat is an important energy source, which comes from food. Sugar is a sweet substance that can be found naturally in fruits or vegetables. Both fats (and sugars) have the same calories. Fats have twice the calories of sugars, however.

Fats are stored in your body and can cause obesity. They cause cholesterol buildup in arteries which may lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Sugars are quickly absorbed by the body and provide instant energy. This causes blood glucose levels to rise. High blood glucose levels are dangerous as it can increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.

Statistics

  • The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend keeping added sugar intake below 10% of your daily calorie intake, while the World Health Organization recommends slashing added sugars to 5% or less of your daily calories for optimal health (59Trusted (healthline.com)
  • Extra virgin olive oil may benefit heart health, as people who consume it have a lower risk for dying from heart attacks and strokes according to some evidence (57Trusted Source (healthline.com)
  • This article received 11 testimonials and 86% of readers who voted found it helpful, earning it our reader-approved status. (wikihow.com)
  • WHO recommends reducing saturated fats to less than 10% of total energy intake; reducing trans-fats to less than 1% of total energy intake; and replacing both saturated fats and trans-fats to unsaturated fats. (who.int)

How To

Here are 10 tips to help you live a healthy life

How to lead a healthy lifestyle

We live in a fast paced world, where we don’t get enough sleep and smoke cigarettes. We don't pay enough attention to our bodies' health.

If you are working full time, it can be difficult to keep a healthy diet and exercise regimen. If you feel stressed, it becomes more difficult. Your mind will tell you that this situation is too much so we end up feeling guilty and giving up.

It is possible that your body is experiencing problems. Ask your doctor for his/her opinion about your current situation. If there are no signs of something abnormal, stress from your job could be the cause.

Some people think they are lucky because their jobs enable them to regularly go to the gym or have good friends who encourage them to stay fit. They are fortunate. Those people don’t have any problems. They control everything. I wish all people could do the same. Many of us aren't able to find the right balance between our personal and professional lives. Many people develop bad habits that eventually lead to disease such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Here are some tips to help improve your lifestyle.

  1. Sleep well - at least 7 hours per night, maximum 8 hours. You should be able to sleep in a proper position and avoid caffeine the hour before you go to bed. Caffeine blocks melatonin hormones which makes it difficult to fall asleep. Also, ensure your bedroom is darkened and clean. You should use blackout curtains if possible, especially if your work is late at night.
  2. Good nutrition is key to a healthy lifestyle. Avoid sugary foods, fried foods, processed foods, and white breads. Lunch should include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Afternoon snacks are recommended to be rich in protein and fiber, such as nuts, seeds, beans, fish and dairy products. Avoid sugary snacks like cookies, chips, chocolates, and cakes.
  3. Get enough water. The majority of people don’t drink enough water. Water helps us burn more calories and maintains our skin's youthfulness. It also flushes toxins out of our bodies and improves our digestion. Aim to drink six glasses of fluids daily to lose weight more quickly. Checking the color of urine is a good way to gauge your hydration. Yellow indicates dehydration; orange signifies slightly dehydrated; pink signifies normal; red signifies overhydrated; and clear signifies highly-overhydrated.
  4. Exercise - Regular physical activity has been proven to increase energy levels and reduce depression. Walking is an easy way to improve your mood. Walking may appear easy but requires concentration and effort. Your brain needs to keep your eyes on the road and focus on breathing slow and deep. Walking for 30 minutes at a steady pace can help you burn between 100 to 150 calories. Start slowly and increase your pace gradually. To avoid injuries, stretch after exercising.
  5. Positive thinking is important for mental well-being. Positive thinking creates a positive environment within ourselves. Negative thoughts drain our energy and cause anxiety. To stay motivated, try to think about the things that you want to accomplish. Reduce the number of tasks you have to do in order to feel less overwhelmed. It is inevitable that you will fail. But don't worry, just keep trying and get up again.
  6. Learn to say no - We often get so busy that we do not even realize how much time we waste doing unimportant things. It is important to learn to say No when you need to. It is not rude to say 'no'. Simply saying "No" does not mean you are rude. There will always be another way to finish the job. You should set limits. Ask for help. Oder delegate this job to someone else.
  7. Take care of you body. Eating healthier foods will boost your metabolism and help you shed those extra pounds. Don't eat too much oily or heavy foods as they can increase cholesterol levels. A good tip is to have three meals and two snacks daily. Your daily calories should range from 2000 to 2500.
  8. Meditate – Meditation is great for stress relief and anxiety. Relax your mind by sitting still with your eyes closed. This exercise will allow you to have clarity of thought which can be very useful in making decisions. Regular meditation practice will make you happier and calmer.
  9. Breakfast is the most important meal you should eat each day. Skipping breakfast may lead to overeating during lunchtime. It is never too late to eat a balanced breakfast as long as you eat within 1 hour of waking. Eating breakfast increases your energy level and helps you to control your hunger.
  10. Good food is healthy. Avoid junk food or any food items that contain preservatives or artificial ingredients. These products make your body acidic and will cause you to crave them. Vegetables and fruits are high in vitamins and minerals, which can lead to better overall health.
